This week, Blaine and Blake Hitzfield are back with the second “official” episode of The Farm Life Show.In case you missed it, Charis Hitzfield recently shared a delicious Keto Teriyaki Chicken Recipe video for the Seven Sons YouTube Channel.Going forward, Charis will regularly host her own Kitchen Inspirations show for the channel.

The Farm Life Show will focus on the people — and the animals — that help bring nutrient-dense, pasture-raised foods from our family farm to your family’s table.

Now that we’ve got that little bit of housekeeping out of the way, let’s move on to the good stuff!

Seven Sons Farm Wagon Tours Booking Now

Spring is in full effect on the farm, and summer will soon be on its way. That means Seven Sons Farm’s popular Wagon Tours are now available for advanced booking.Slots for the tours typically sell out fast, so don’t pass up the opportunity to get a real behind-the-scenes look at life on Seven Sons Farm.Unlike the typical “petting farm” experience you’ll get the opportunity to experience how a real pasture-based farm works. Here’s just some of what you’ll experience on the 3-mile wagon tour:

  • See how our cattle herds rotate through hundreds of acres of pasture.
  • Watch thousands of laying hens in their mobile hoop coopsVisit with the pastured pigs

If you’re lucky, you might even spot a bison from our herd, if they’re not hiding in the woods. Our wagon tours are an essential part of our commitment to transparency and offer visitors unique insights into how our animals live.

New Puppies at Seven Sons Farm

As promised in the first episode of the Farm Life Show, we have a spring litter of new puppies to introduce you to!Dolly, the mother of the pups, gave birth right out in the field with the chickens. There’s a reason for that. These particular six healthy pups aren’t destined to become man’s best friend.Working guard dogs are an essential part of protecting pasture-raised chickens and eggs. So instead of socializing the puppies with humans, they’re making fast feathered friends with the hens.   Building a bond with the chickens from the moment they’re born ensures that as these puppies grow into guard dogs, they’ll share a strong bond with the chickens it’s their job to keep from harm.If you’d like a chance to name one of the puppies, drop a boy name or a girl name (or both!) in the YouTube comments, and we’ll pick the winners before the next episode of The Farm Life Show.

Spring Cleaning at Seven Sons Farm

We hate to admit it, but we’re a family of hoarders. From heavy machinery to old office furniture and everything in between, there’s been an ever-expanding corner of the farm devoted to a scrap metal heap for about 40 years! This year, we decided it was time for a real spring cleaning — the kind you need a backhoe for! By the time we were done, we’d hauled out at least 30 loads of scrap metal! Now, we just need to fight the urge to start right back up hoarding again…Pop Quiz!Be sure to watch the video for a chance — right around the five-minute mark — to win an online gift credit from Seven Sons Farm.

Bruce (Son #6) and Alyssa’s Gender Reveal Party

The whole family got together for a  gender reveal party for Bruce and Alyssa’s second child. As an added twist, not even the happy couple knew whether the baby is a boy or a girl! The only person to know the secret was Beth Hitzfield — founder of the farm and mother of the seven sons.  After a feast and plenty of games of cornhole and spikeball, Beth filled a bunch of squirt guns with either pink or blue-colored water. Then the whole family lined up like a firing squad to shoot Bruce and Alyssa — wearing white t-shirts — with one of the colors to reveal the gender. So did the super soakers shoot pink water or blue?

A Winter Update From the Farm

Bruce (the 6th son) here with a farm update for December 2024. In this winter farm production update, I'll discuss a few projects we've recently moved to completion and paint a vision for what's still coming as 2024 nears its end.

French Chefs Visit the Farm

Earlier this month, Spencer and I had the privilege of hosting some incredible chefs from France for a farm tour. They are here in Indiana competing in the World Food Championships which are being hosted in Indianapolis. Last year, their team actually won the World Burger Championship! 🍔 While prepping for their event down in Indianapolis (about 90 minutes South of us), they looked online for a local farm to partner with to grab the meats they'd use for their competition.
